With a strong belief in “education through entertainment," Dave Smolar grew up understanding that with a love of broadcasting comes a deep responsibility. In nearly 20 years of broadcast, Mr. Smolar has built a reputation for visual storytelling, factual accuracy, and eloquent writing. An Apple-certified Final Cut Studio editor, he used his years in news radio and his background in ancient and medieval Jewish history as a springboard into more than four years with the Discovery Channel.
As an experienced, creative, and caring Jewish educator and musician, he's published and produced numerous musical programs, including his "Chanukah Seder," which continues its 5-year run in December. As board member and fundraising chair of the 30-year-old non-profit Jewish Study Center of Washington, he recently produced and hosted the first Jewish A Capella Festival of Downtown Washington held at the historic 6th & I Synagogue.
